About Lambda Literary
Lambda Literary nurtures and advocates for LGBTQ writers, elevating the impact of their words to create community, preserve our legacies, and affirm the value of our stories and our lives.
Our programs include an Emerging Writers Retreat, which is a week-long community- and craft-building residence for LGBTQ writers at the beginnings of their careers, and The Lambda Literary Awards, which identifies and honors the best LGBTQ books each year.
About Lambda LitFest
Our newest program, Lambda LitFest, brings together LGBTQ writers at all levels of their careers, providing a week of readings and celebrations, the beginnings of many conversations and connections. As Los Angeles’ first and only LGBTQ literary festival, LitFest brings over 1,500 readers and writers together in a week of free community-curated literary events across the city. The festival culminates in a Lambda-curated Main Day of featuring some of the most crucial andinnovative voices of our community.
About this year’s theme: All the Feelings
In a world that values logic and rational thought, those who feel are frequently marginalized. People of color, women, and LGBTQ+ people have been reviled or worse for our ability to feel and express our emotions–but what gets lost when we shirk from emotion? For this year’s Lambda LitFest, we’ve created a weeklong celebration of feeling–of queer joy, tears, rage, passion, and all the feelings. As people and writers who’ve been accused of feeling too much, let’s gather and listen to LGBTQ+ voices that report back from places of feeling.
