Daviel Shy is an independent scholar of liberation studies. Her research focuses on utopic moments in lesbian history and thought. She has taught writing at The Art Institute of Chicago and film at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She organized the study group Profile of a Radical at the WCCW in 2017 and founded the screening series, L.M.N.O.P: Lesbian Movie Night Ongoing Project, which has been running since 2011. She wrote and directed nine short films and one feature, The Ladies Almanack. She is currently writing a novel-length epic poem called, You Were Born, Fist First, Bruised.
